About Raquel Cool

Raquel Cool is an award-winning executive communications professional. She has spent the past decade partnering with C-suite technology leaders to drive internal and executive communications that help employees see themselves in the mission and the big picture. As Internal Communications Leader at Cisco, she supports an organization of nearly 30,000 global employees, mostly engineers.

Born in Panama and raised by a Chinese mother and an American naval intelligence officer, Raquel grew up navigating between three cultures. She speaks English fluently, Spanish efficiently, and Chinese (Hakka) kitchenly.

Her career began as a crisis hotline operator, then a tech journalist, then getting represented by NYC literary agency Writers House. At one point, she was even ghostwriting for Desmond Tutu. What seemed like an unrelated path had one common thread: a passion for impactful communications that meet people where they are.

When not immersed in all things executive communications, she’s likely wholeheartedly chasing an art installation or a creative project, or halfheartedly keeping Hummus (her Persian cat) from inviting himself to her video calls.
